Indictable only offences.

The crime of murder is committed where a person of sound mind and discretion unlawfully kills any reasonable creature in being and under the Queen’s peace, with intent to kill or cause grievous bodily harm.

The exceptions to this rule would reduce an offence of murder to manslaughter, those being if the accused;

         3. Was acting in pursuance of a suicide pact.

The maximum sentence for murder and manslaughter is imprisonment for life.

In brief, the likely defences available for these offences are self-defence and duress.
